Gourdon and Grasse

From Tourretts Sur Loup we had two more stops. In order to get to the next stop we would have to trek (fortunately by car) higher and higher up the Alpes-Maritimes. We first viewed Gourdon from the bottom of the mountain and I was astonished that we were going to visit that tiny little village perched upon the rather large mountain we were now facing. Nevertheless the windy roads eventually ended, much to my delight and we were on top of that mountain orginally seen from the bottom, looking out on Gourdon’s magnifecnt views. Gourdon is known as “The Eagle’s Nest” and it is not hard to see why. It is a very tiny little village, with shops and two museums, but the view alone, makes up for its size! After a quick walk around Gourdon, we headed down the mountain to Grasse to tour the Fragond perfume factory. It seemed only too perfect to end a day of village tours to tour a perfume factory… the whole day felt very French! That tour was just long enough for us to miss the sudden down pour of rain and allowed me to buy some perfume… when in France do as the French do? At least that has been my motto for most of this experience, of course with the exception the bathing suit top and frog legs! It was such a wonderful tour to go on, I am so glad to be given this opportunity of my day off!
